Sector education officers undergoing training
Rwanda Education Board (REB) in collaboration with VVOB is conducting a two- weeks’ session of training the new 59 Sector Education Officers (SEOs) to address challenges related to the lack of regular monitoring and evaluation of best practices in the management of schools.
During this period, SEOs will be equipped with alternative best ways they can provide guidance, monitoring and evaluation to schools through proper school planning, accountability of school finances, management of pedagogical activities, monitoring of norms and standards for quality education, education data collection and interpretation.
In 2011 and 2012, VVOB in collaboration with MINEDUC/REB has conducted induction sessions for 390 sector education officers in school management and leadership.
REB has the intention to provide new sector education officers with the opportunity to get professional competences in school management and leadership so that they can improve education in their respective sectors leading to a better student learning achievement.
It is expected that at the end of this workshop, participants will be able to discuss the concept of school leadership, management and administration. They will be able to discuss roles and responsibilities of sector education officers.
They will also be able to familiarize sector education officers with their roles in education policies implementation.
