Gakenke: Catholic nuns construct nursery school
Toddlers with their teachers at the school
An Early Child Development School was constructed in Ruli sector Gakenke district in the Northern Province just at the borders of Kamonyi district of southern province with necessary material needed.
This school was started by Catholic Sisters (nuns) and it has children toys, a dining room, and beds for the children to sleep on while at school.
“It takes in toddlers from 4months to 4 years which is one way of training children how to live with others and again this helps children join other classes with self-confidence”, said one of the teachers in this school.
She added on saying that they again teach these young ones how to sing in English and French, counting, which they believe can help them in the higher levels of studying
The different leaders who visited this school on the 1st/08/2013 said that it was a good school and will help parents who have daily jobs to do and have no people to leave their children with.
