The director general of Rwanda Education Board (REB), John Rutayisire has called on head teachers in Eastern Province to maintain the government’s Policy of promoting quality education.
He said this on Thursday, while chairing a consultative meeting between REB and head teachers from Nyagatare, Kayonza and Gatsibo district. The meeting, themed: Quality Education Framework was held in Nyagatare sector.
Rutayisire told head teachers that the government of Rwanda strives to ensure that education sector provides high quality services in different fields.
He challenged them to emulate the new government Policy of promoting Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) as a way of pushing the country to a middle-income economy.
“Of all the countries that have enjoyed greater economic stability, none of them attributed it mostly to university graduates but to these people with hands-on-skills. The country needs people with such skills that will create jobs. The Cabinet approved a policy to promote TVETs and you should help us in this endeavour,” he said.
“We have also prioritized a policy of offering scholarships to students studying in TVET.”
