GISAGARA invests in war against Drug abuse

People in Gisagara District have been called upon to fight drug abuse through investing in eradicating drug abuse, giving out correct information of any kind and on time since this issue brings very bad effects to the country.
This was said in ‘Save’ sector Gisagara District while launching the Community Policing Week which started on 11/02/2013.
This week that is dedicated to many different activities, brought in many students from different schools who were educated on drug abuse and different ways of fighting such.
These students were very grateful for this week saying that they were going to try hard and fight any kind of drug abuse.
The main thing noted here was to encouraging the teachers to find different ways of educating the students on different ways of fighting drug abuse.
The Director of Save Teacher’s training school, told students to take what they get from school which will help them fight drug abuse, and also become responsible citizens of the country.
About 19.647 litres of alcohol and 20kgs of marijuana were found in the sector, with 1100litres of alcohol and 15kgs of marijuana gotten rid of, which brings this sector to a 2nd place in practicing drug abuse.
The Executive Secretary of Save sector Jean Claude Kabalisa said that the reason there was a lot of drug abuse in the sector is because this sector is near the city of Butare.
He added on saying that this is very much a hindrance to the sector’s development, adding on that they were going to find different ways of fighting the practices.
The mayor of the district Leandre Karekezi said that “it was every resident’s responsibility to join hands and find ways of fighting drug abuse so as to achieve development
He added on saying that any person got practicing drug abuse was to get 1-7years of p imprisonment, or pay Rwf50000-Rwf5million as stated in the law.
