Eduard Habimana, primary teacher in Cyanika sector in Burera district has proved wrong people who think that teachers can never develop with their small salary.
This comes after so many people call them poor saying they wear old clothes and shoes just because they are paid less compared to other professions.
“Those people just under look our profession. I’m a teacher who dresses well and have built a 40 iron sheets roofed cemented house,” Habimana reveals
He adds that poor people cannot afford nice shoes teachers put on, but wear cheap plastic shoes.
“Please we caution people who say that teachers are very poor. These people are not updated on teachers’ development and much less their salary increment,” he notes
The least paid teacher earns Rwf40000 which can lead one to social development if well managed as Habimana asserts.
Eduard Habimana was, on October 5th 2012 International Teachers Day given a cow for being an exemplary teacher than other teachers from Cyanika sector primary schools.
Though some teachers say their salary is enough, it’s not enough compared to the standard of living in Rwanda.
