Rutsiro Teachers promise

After explaining to them what he did to get the two years awards, teachers in Gihango sector Rutsiro district said that they had learnt alot from Ngendahayo and promised to even work hard so that next year they will get the year’s award too.

Joseph  Ngendahimana commonly known as Mandela is a 35years old man who has been a teacher for the past 14years in Rugarambiro primary school.

Some of the things that contributed to his being among the 3 best teachers from the district of Rutsiro and also being among the 90 teachers in the country to get awards from Rwanda Education Board[REB] is his new system of teaching he introduced in the school.

He also got children who never went to school because of being disabled and had a poor living and brought them to school and again, he got employées from Handicap international to come and train teachers on how they could take care of those children.he then got the parents of the children and put them in a project through which their children were able to get rabbits and also, he was able to coach the students freely.

Ngendahayo also participated in the government programmes, was able to bring electricity to their place and also made 20,000 blocks that they used to build a school that has about 60 children now.

Because of the confidence that people have in him,he was made the president of of different projects that include the umurenge SACCO,a treasurer of the school among others.

Ngendahimana put a barbers shop where he stays and works on students with 50Rwf in order to help them be clean and also, he brought pipe water to his house from which  people can get clean water. The loan he got from Umwarimu SACCO helped him buy a motorcycle, a television set among others.

REB gave him à certificate this year, a modem and a flash disk while Gihango sector where he resides, promised to give him a cow.

After showing what he had got to the people, the mayor of Rutsiro Gaspard Byukusenge asked other teachers to take an example of Ngendahimana and even do better than him.

Teachers asked the mayor whether Ngendahimana will be rewarded even next year and he said no to them.

One of the teachers from Ruhingo primary school,Emmanuel Nkurunziza, a teacher of langauges  said that “they had learnt alot from Ngendahimana and therefore was going to practice them and show them to people adding on that Ngendahimana will never  get another reward other than them come next year”.
